چکیده

Five variant mRNA transcripts have been identi-fied. These include transcripts using different 5' untranslated regions (UTRs) including exon 1 deletions, and transcripts using different 3'UTR regions. Using rapid amplification of cDNA ends (RACE) different KLK7 5'UTR sequences were identified from RNA extracted from pancreas, skin and ovarian cells, suggesting the expression of tissue specific KLK7 transcripts.

Regulation of human tissue kallikrein-related peptidase expression by steroid hormones in 32 cell lines.

Human tissue kallikrein-related peptidases(KLK), which are secreted serine proteases, are encoded by 15 genes located on chromosome 19q 13.4. Previous studies have shown that KLK expression is regulated by steroid hormones and many KLKs are dysregulated in hormone dependent malignancies. Some KLKs are proposed biomarkers for these cancers. We have characterized KLK hormonal regulation patterns ...

Copy number and expression alterations of miRNAs in the ovarian cancer cell line OVCAR-3: impact on kallikrein 6 protein expression.

BACKGROUND Kallikrein-related peptidase 6 (KLK6), a member of the serine protease family of kallikrein (KLK) genes, is dysregulated in ovarian carcinomas (OCa) and its overexpression is associated with poor prognosis. Regulation of its expression is poorly understood and is likely to be influenced by multiple mechanisms. The KLK locus is subject to copy number changes and heterogeneity in serou...

Using kallikrein-related peptidases (KLK) as novel cancer biomarkers.

Thromb Haemost 2009; 101: 222–224 The scientist Emil-Karl Frey, a scholar of the famous surgeon ‘Geheimrat’ Ferdinand Sauerbruch, observed in 1925 a considerable reduction in arterial blood pressure when he injected human urine into dogs, an until then unknown cardioactive and vasoactive effect which he attributed to an unspecified substance with potential biological functions (1, 2). This then...

Tissue-specific promoter utilisation of the kallikrein-related peptidase genes, KLK5 and KLK7, and cellular localisation of the encoded proteins suggest roles in exocrine pancreatic function.

Abstract Tissue kallikrein (kallikrein 1) was first identified in pancreas and is the namesake of the kallikrein-related peptidase (KLK) family. KLK1 and the other 14 members of the human KLK family are encoded by 15 serine protease genes clustered at chromosome 19q13.4. Our Northern blot analysis of 19 normal human tissues for expression of KLK4 to KLK15 identified pancreas as a common express...

Expression of kallikrein-related peptidase 7 is decreased in prostate cancer

Recent evidence suggests that the human kallikrein 7 (KLK7) is differentially regulated in a variety of tumors. The aim of this study was to determine the expression of kallikrein-related peptidase 7 and KLK7 in our large collection of prostate samples. Between August 2000 and December 2012, 116 patients with histologically confirmed prostate cancer (PCa) and 92 with benign prostate hyperplasia...
